2021-05-21
Politician(s) lobbied: Darragh O'Brien (Minister), Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage
Intent: We are hoping to secure additional beds and funding to provide support for the extra capacity based on the model of service in our supported temporary accommmodation for homeless pregnant women. The service has excellent outcomes and is successful in exiting 80% of residents from homelessness within 6 months. Additional capacity would mean we could exit even more women and their babies from homelessness.
Methods: Virtual Meeting, Email
Details & Methods:
Method | Description |
---|---|
— | Anew met with Minister Daragh O'Brien |
— | Reps from DRHE and the Department of Housing on 18th Feb 2021 (on-line). Anew highlighted that we have a consistent waiting list of about 10 homeless pregnant women for 4 beds. These women have complex support needs |
— | so other homeless services are not appropriate. The Minister noted that the DRHE always welcome new proposals from services and he suggested that Anew submit a proposal for extra capacity |
— | with good evidence for the need. |
