A meeting with Minister Calleary on 25 March highlighted the need to review the Community Employment (CE) Scheme. Discussions focused on improving inclusivity and sustainability for individuals with learning and social needs who benefit from its structure and community engagement. We proposed policy changes to allow long-term or indefinite participation beyond current time limits.

Spoke with Emer Currie office with regard to retaining CE staff with additional learning needs who have reached their three year limit on the CE scheme. Inquired if it was possible for the Dept of Social Protection could look at another scheme that would allow such workers remain indefinitely within a community centre setting.

in February 2024 regarding proposed funding opportunities that Castleknock Community Centre could apply for in relation to the future costs of refurbishment of a building the Centre was in negotiations to purchase. Feasibility study and plans of work submitted to Mr O Grady.

Meeting with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar on 20th October 2023 at Castleknock Community Centre Laurel Lodge to discuss the struggle of community centres to retain quality staff due to an inadequate level of funding awarded to Social Enterprises (SE) through Pobal CSP. The meeting was to highlight the need for an increase in Pobal CSP funding to help alleviate the financial pressure put on SE. SE are mainly a low base generated income business who rely on Pobal Funding to continue their service.
