Intent: Seal Rescue Ireland actively promoted a campaign by Irish Wildlife Trust asking the Government to commit, and drive forward developments relating to Ireland's requirement to designated 30% of our Maritime Area at some level of Protection by 2030. Seal Rescue Ireland shared this campaign on social media, monthly newsletters and during in person tours to our Visitor centre. Seal Rescue Ireland also made a submission to the department on this matter.

Council to close the small stretch of beach for an 8 month period, as it is a valuable Grey Seal haul out, pupping and moulting site. Grey seals and their essential habitats are protected under the Habitats Directive. The protection of the beach provides a valuable tourist attraction, and SRI are working diligently to collect public perception research and wild seal population data.
