Intent: To highlight the content of IFA's submission to the CAP Strategic Planning Consultation Process.::To acknowledge the move by the EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski to carry out ‘a comprehensive impact assessment' of the CAP Strategic Plans.::That the Commission cannot try to force through the targets in Farm to Fork through the back door of the CAP National Strategic Plans.::To highlight that The Commission's JRC technical report on effects of the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity strategies was released in August. In line with other reports, it showed a 5-15% decline in agriculture production and a 10% increase in production costs.::That the Commission's own study showed that 50% of GHG emissions reduction would be substituted by equivalent GHG emissions in 3rd countries, which underlines the need for greater coherence in Commission policy.::To highlight that some of what's proposed in the next CAP will have far-reaching and significant implications for Irish farmers, and th

Intent: That the Government cannot use the Nitrates review to introduce measures that are more to do with delivering climate policy objectives, than improving water quality.::To highlight that the Government must undertake a cost-benefit analysis to understand the economic cost of the proposed measures and the associated improvement to water quality before the viability of more family farms is undermined.::To highlight that the proposed measures to cover slurry stores or the use of LESS have little to do with improving water quality, but more to do with reducing agriculture emissions.::That the review must focus on supporting farmers to improve water quality. It must not be used as a vehicle for the Government to renege on its responsibility to support farmers in the low carbon transition.::To seek an urgent meeting with the Minister for Agriculture and to highlight that IFA will be making a submission to the Nitrate Action Programme review.::To Seek a meeting with Darragh O'Brien Minister, D

Intent: To welcome the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture that approval has commenced for 100% of qualified applications received by the Department under Tranche 22.::To call on the Minister of Agriculture to ensure all applicants in Tranche 22 get the opportunity to retrospectively avail of the revised costings.::To ensure that the costings are reviewed for each Tranche to keep pace with current price inflation.::To highlight that it's unacceptable that the revised costing won't be available to farmers who apply to Tranche 25 of TAMS in January.::To highlight that the impact of a delay in updating reference costs means that farmers will also not receive an accurate rate of grant that is reflective of the actual cost of investment incurred. It is critically important that the revised costings are made available when Tranche 25 opens on January 15th next.::To call on the Minister of Agriculture to ensure that the revised reference costs, which are due to be completed by the Departme

Intent: To highlight that there is ample opportunity within the EU Veterinary Medicines Regulation to address the concerns of farmers, Licensed Merchants and veterinary pharmacies and resolve the concerns associated with the sourcing of anti-parasitic products, following very productive discussions with representatives of the Licensed Merchants Association, the veterinary pharmacies and ICOS.::That all stakeholders agree a practical solution can be provided that recognises the professionalism of farmers, Suitably Qualified Responsible Persons in Licensed Merchant stores and pharmacists, while complying with the framework set out in the Regulations.::That farmers in Northern Ireland will continue to access their anti-parasitic products (doses) without veterinary prescription. To avoid a two-tier system on the island, the Minister for Agriculture must take on board the views of the majority of stakeholders in resolving this issue.::That IFA does not support taking away the sales of veterinary

IFA has made repeated calls for the re-introduction of the quota-based pilot work permit scheme to address immediate labour shortages in the horticulture and dairy sectors and that this scheme is extended to pig and poultry farms also highlight that.::That the Minister responsible should fast-track work permit applications from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to help alleviate the backlog of pigs in the market.::To highlight that the Irish pigmeat sector is under extreme pressure due to the lack of suitable labour available at processing level and on pig farms.
