Intent: That the proposed principles under the soil health law must include safeguards that ensure the law does not negatively impact farmers livelihoods in the short-term by increasing operational costs and reducing productivity. These safeguards are not included in current proposals.::That the proposed law should not place additional financial and administrative burden onto farmers which may have no direct benefit to soil management and soil health.::That any reporting body nominated to conduct soil testing must understand the nuances related to agricultural soils. Data collected from this exercise must not be used in a manner that restricts the productivity of farms.
