Intent: This was a Forum (and Technical Conference) for our members and others, held in Kilkenny on 1 March. One of the aims of the event was to inform the Minister of State about the work of Engineers Ireland and additionally, through our guest speakers, how applied artificial intelligence is enhancing the business performance of companies in Ireland.

In addition to the original email to the Minister of State, email invites were also sent to other DPOs and of those listed below, Mr Buckley did attend. - EmailOur Applied AI Forum was the first in a series of Fora that we in Engineers Ireland are hosting in 2019. It was held at the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny with over 200 people in attendance, primarily engineers and students. Minister of State D'Arcy (who is a Minister of State with special responsibility for Financial Services and Insurance) was invited by email and had intended to come to speak at the Forum but had to remain at Leinster House to vote. The Forum was organised by our South East Regional Branch, in conjunction with our head office. The Minister asked for his speech to be read out at the event, which it was. - Event / Reception

Intent: To propose the scrapping Section 8 of this bill which would allow hedgecutting in August & burning in March will negatively impact breeding birds and other biodiversity. Comms also included detail on the impacts of burning on birds and other wildlife.
