Intent: The FPS and its members feel strongly that oil and - more long-term – a liquid efuel and/or bio fuel, can be part of the phased solution and the association has been working closely with the European Confederation of Fuel Distributors (ECFD), boiler manufacturers and other trade associations to promote the development of a liquid bio fuel. The FPS believes the Government should look at a tiered approach to achieving the 2050 carbon reduction ,setting a pathway for home heating carbon reduction

Intent: For Budget 2019, key issues included: Adjustment to the VRT and Road Tax Bands for 2019 for WLTP tested cars; no negative taxation changes for diesel vehicles; extension of current VRT reliefs; increased investment in the EV Charging Infrastructure; measures that ensure Ireland does not become a dumping ground for old polluting vehicles; development of policy for treatment of used imports post-BREXIT.

Details: Budget Submission 2019 - SIMI prepares an annual Submission for the Budget. The Submission was issued to the Minister, but in addition the Society held 2 lobbying days inviting all TDs and Senators to Buswells Hotel to outline the contents of the Submission.

Intent: The Jack & Jill specialist liaison nurses believe the in loco parentis rule questions the professionalism of nurses who have trained to the highest level to care for sick children in their own homes. The nurses see first-hand the negative impact this rule is having on families and the additional stress it is causing. Jack & Jill is urging the HSE to abolish this clause and for the responsible Ministers to respond to the motion on Disability Rights recently and unanimously passed in the Dail

Intent: To have public officials attend the launch to support Special Olympics athletes from Munster.

Details: A number of public officials were invited to the launch of Team Munster. These are the Munster athletes who will attend Special Olympics Ireland's 2018 Games in Dublin from 14-17 June, representing their province. The launch took place on 30th April at Cork City Hall.
