Intent: Promote dialogue with DFHERIS to align sector priorities with policy, address challenges, and highlight contributions to skills, research, and internationalisation. Invite the Assistant Secretary to participate in the HECA Research Conference 2025 as a panelist, engaging with research on AI, education and wellbeing, and explore future directions for applied research to support national priorities.

Intent: We discussed AI’s impact on education and the need to adapt lifelong learning so Ireland stays competitive and attractive to investment. We shared examples of sectors most affected and the training modules needed through public-private collaboration. Talks then focused on Irish government policy plans and how OpenAI could contribute feedback on program content.
