Intent: Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown’s Climate Action Plan setsambitious targets across energy efficiency, transportelectrification, biodiversity, flood resilience, and publicengagement. Budget 2026 should back its implementation through dedicated funding streams that enable local authorities to scale action quickly and visibly. Investment in practical community-led initiatives will help deliver on national targets while building public trust and participation.

Details: Support delivery of DLR’s Climate Action Plan

Methods
DLR is already piloting effective low-carbon solutions, such as solar-powered street furniture and advanced retrofit schemes. With further support, these initiatives can be expanded across towns and neighbourhoods to lower emissions, reduce energypoverty, and support green jobs. Funding should prioritise retrofit grants, microgeneration infrastructure, and electrification of public transport and council fleets. - Lobby day

Intent: The Shanganagh Castle development in Shankill - 597 new homes delivered in partnership with the LDA and DLR County Council - sets a strong precedent for affordable, cost-rental, and social housing. Budget 2026 should build on this momentum by accelerating planning and funding for similar large-scale mixed-tenure projects across Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, particularly in serviced land zones.

Details: Unlocking Housing Supply in Growth Areas

Methods
To meet urgent housing demand, interim modular housing should be deployed on council-owned landbanks while longterm builds progress. The opening of Woodbrook DART station on 10 August 2025 supports up to 2,300 new homes and must be matched by infrastructure investment and integrated housing delivery to unlock the full potential of the Shankill–Bray corridor. - Email
